"Chincoteague Holly" 11"x14", watercolor and Gouache, mounted on board and waxed.

I was down on Chincoteague Island last week, started this painting there and finished in studio.  Saw this on a little side street in Chincoteague, an American Ibis looking for bugs in a little overgrown cemetery. What struck me was the huge American Holly tree that dominated the little group of headstones and tiny wooden cross. The ibis was just another plus in the scene.

I painted this on a piece of 140 lb cold press Arches paper, mounted on a board. I love the rigidity provided by the mounting process. I'll wax the paper before framing it.

This one is done.
