Welcome to the Watercolor & Egg Tempera Artwork of Kurt Plinke
Painting a Summer Gull
June 25th, 11:00 am until 4:30 pm. Summer has almost arrived and a Summer favorite will be the subject of June's watercolor workshop at Sewell Mills Studio. We'll be painting a Laughing Gull. Perched on a wharf-side post, this beautiful bird with the black head will be a study in brilliant blacks, grays and whites. Simple techniques and clean lines will be a great way to develop (or perfect) your watercolor techniques.
Sign up soon for this workshop and for other upcoming other workshops.
Despite the clamor to "go green" and to "save the planet," most Americans spend very little time actually observing the world around them. Kurt Plinke is one of those people who has not forgotten to keep in touch with the natural world. Living on Maryland's Eastern Shore, he tries to move in time with the seasons, and records what he sees in his intricate watercolors and egg tempera paintings. Many of his images are created from memory or imagination, others are painted on site and out-of-doors.
