An ongoing watercolor group. Participants range from beginners to advanced watercolorists, each focusing on individual projects. This is a great way for anyone to learn how to paint on location using watercolors, quickly and easily.
$20 per the day, or $90 for eight consecutive weeks. Begin at any time.
Workshops at Sewell Mills
These one-day workshops are part of an ongoing series, "Bring-a-Dish Painting." We start the day with a pot-luck sharing of food, then paint the subject for the rest of the day. All of these workshops are designed with the novice watercolorist in mind, although experienced painters will also get a lot from the day. These workshops fill fast, so sign up early to reserve a chair. Contact Sewell Mills Studio, (410) 200-1743 or contact using email for more information or to register for each of these workshops. 50.00 for each one-day workshop. Register early to assure a chair. Please pay for each workshop separately.
Hen House Window
Saturday, June 21st, 11:00 am - 4:30 pm. We'll be painting a young Rhode Island Red chicken, as she sits in the hen house window. A study in shades of white, this will be a wonderful painting to develop your skills at washes, masking and drybrush. A great workshop for beginners. We will be working from photographs and from the chickens in the henhouse at Sewell Mill. paper provided.
Kayak on the Choptank
Saturday, July 12th, 11:00 am - 4:30 pm. Living on the Choptank River allows for familiarity with moving water, small boats and reflections. We'll paint just that as we complete a painting of a lone kayaker plying the waters of the middle Choptank River. The slowly flowing current will give participants an opportunity to recreate the wavering reflections of the kayak and the surrounding scene. paper provided.
Saturday, August 23rd, 11:00 am - 4:30 pm. Bitterns are interesting birds, resembling a heron in may ways. Their cryptic camouflage conceals them easily among tall marsh grasses. We'll paint the bird as it is usually seen, pretending to be grasses in the Summer tidal marshes. A great way for beginners or advanced watercolorists to practice wet-in-wet, drybrush and layering. Paper provided.
