These one-day workshops are part of an ongoing series, "Bring-a-Dish Painting." We start the day with a pot-luck sharing of food, then paint the subject for the rest of the day. All of these workshops are designed with the novice watercolorist in mind, although experienced painters will also get a lot from the day. These workshops often fill fast, so sign up early to reserve a chair. Contact Sewell Mills Studio, (410) 200-1743 or contact using email for more information or to register for each of these workshops. 50.00 for each one-day workshop. Register early to assure a chair. Please pay for each workshop separately.
Golden-Crowned Kinglet in Watercolor
March 12th, 11:00 am until 4:30 pm. Golden Crowned Kinglets have got to be one of the cutest little birds in Maryland. Their tiny golden and orange crowns contrast with their subtle green body feathers and make them not only cute, but beautiful. An easy, interesting watercolor study for everyone. Paper provided.
Portrait of an Osprey
April 16th, 11:00 am until 4:30 pm. By April, Ospreys once again soar over the studio, and a portrait of this regal bird will make a beautiful watercolor study. We'll look at pattern, overlapping colors and texture, as well as how to give a portrait "attitude." New watercolorists or seasoned painters will learn something new in this workshop. Paper provided.
Male Mallard Duck in Watercolor
June 28th, 11:00 am until 4:30 pm. Mallard Ducks are everywhere on the Eastern Shore, and because of them being so ordinarily seen, we tend to forget how beautiful they are. In this workshop, we'll study how to develop the idea of form as we paint, making sure that our ducks look three-dimensional. Easy for anyone, the concepts we use in this workshop will be useful in may ways for anyone who paints. Paper provided.
Kayaks on the Choptank
August 27th, 11:00 am until 4:30 pm. Even while Summer wanes, Choptank when river is dotted with Kayaks. In our August workshop, we'll paint a view of the river as several kayakers serenely paddle by. Reflections, bright colors and water will dominate this pretty little riverscape. Paper provided.
