Workshops at Sewell Mills
These one-day workshops are part of an ongoing series, "Bring-a-Dish Painting." We start the day with a pot-luck sharing of food, then paint the subject for the rest of the day. All of these workshops are designed with the novice watercolorist in mind, although experienced painters will also get a lot from the day. These workshops fill fast, so sign up early to reserve a chair. Contact Sewell Mills Studio, (410) 200-1743 or contact using email for more information or to register for each of these workshops. 50.00 for each one-day workshop. Register early to assure a chair. Please pay for each workshop separately.
Portrait of a Cow
Saturday, August 23rd, 11:00 am - 4:30 pm. We'll try to capture the essence of a farmyard cow as we get together to paint a portrait of a young whiteface angus. A great workshop for beginners. We will be working mainly in black and white as we paint this fun watercolor. paper provided.
Down a Lonely Road
Saturday, September 27th, 11:00 am - 4:30 pm. Everywhere you turn on the eastern shore, you might find yourself traveling along a lonely road. We'll try to paint that feeling as we all paint an old dirt road. We'll look at drybrush techniques, as well as learn a bit about perspective together. This will be a fun and easy painting. paper provided.
Broken Window, Old Barn
Saturday, October 25th, 11:00 am - 4:30 pm. There's a weathered old barn not far from the studio, with weathered siding and the dark remains of windows peering out. We'll paint a view of one of those windows in this workshop. A great way for beginners or advanced watercolorists to practice wet-in-wet, drybrush and layering. Paper provided.
Saturday, November 15th, 11:00 am - 4:30 pm. As you travel along the river, you come upon the occasional old boat, aground and forgotten. Some are mere skeletons, others still seem water-worthy. We'll paint one of these small derelicts as a study in this workshop. It should be a fun, easy workshop for watercolorists of any level. Paper provided.
