"Outside my back door lies one of my favorite subjects to paint... my long line of stacked firewood. Parts of the pile stay dry under a long blue tarp. One afternoon, strong winds blew the old blue cover off of about half the pile. I was struck by the color and composition as I walked by, and decided to paint it, leaving little background and focusing on the pattern and texture of the wood, combined with the blue color. "
